SIN - Points us to our need for Jesus
Gal. 3:10-11a | But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.” So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law.
The Law is another name for the 10 Commandments and for the Bible (God’s Word). Can anyone keep the whole law?
If we aren’t able to keep God’s law, why did He give it to us? (Did God want us to fail?)
Romans 7:7b | In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”
God’s law helped us know what is right and what is wrong. Why is knowing what is sin and what isn’t important?
Gal 3:19a | Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins.
While we can’t keep the law, it does show us our sin. When people realize they are sinners, what should that that show them that they need (or who!).
What is the promise that was given along with the law?
