Jesus loved God by putting God first: Love God with all

Matthew 22:37-40 | Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

  • If we truly love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, we will keep Him first in our lives. Why is this?

  • What is the difference between your heart, soul, and mind? Why are we instructed to love God with all three of these things?

  • What are some other things that you love with your emotions, your goals/desires, and your thoughts? In other words, to what do you give your affections, your time, your talents, and your treasures?

    • Thinking through these things, people, or goals, how does your investment in them compare to your investment in your relationship with God? Which are you showing love to least? Most?

    • Have you been loving God with less than your “all?” If so, what needs to change?
