Disciple: Everything but Christ is worthless
Philippians 3:7-9a | I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him.
Read Philippians 3:7-9a. In your own words, what is Paul saying?
Why does he feel this way?
What are some things Paul would consider worthless or have discarded?
Do you feel the same way Paul feels? Why or why not?
Why is Paul’s attitude an important one for disciples? Why would it be a problem if a disciple doesn’t feel how Paul felt?
