Obey: Obedience that isn’t burdensome

1st John 5:1-3 | Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 

  • We’ve seen throughout this week that loving God means we obey His commands. How are these two things connected? 

  • If we love God, 1st John 5 tells us that His commands should not seem burdensome. What does this mean? Why should it be true? 

  • What commands currently seem burdensome to you? Why? What can you do about them?
