EMPOWERED Love: Unites God’s Followers

John 4:19-21 | We love each other because he loved us first. If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

  • What is a fellow believer?

  • You are commanded to love other believers. Why is this important?

  • Are you struggling to love any of God’s followers? If so, what does God want you to do about it? [Ask Him and then record your answer]

Colossians 3:14 | Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

  • Harmony means we get along with others and stay focused on the same thing: Our God-given mission. How does love keep us in harmony with others?

  • Why is this harmony important? How does disunity keep us from fulfilling our God-given mission?

  • To stay harmonious and unified, this verse only has instructions for you personally, not the other person you may be struggling with. Why do you think this is?

Challenge— Ask God to EMPOWER you with His love for the person you’re struggling with and to lead your heart, mind, and actions towards that person. Follow His lead regarding a way to show them love this week.
