We should live like Jesus: Loving others fulfills God’s law (even loving God)

Romans 13:8-10 | Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

  • Romans 13 calls loving others an obligation. What does this mean?

  • What is the difference between making people earn your love and loving all people like they are already owed it? Which describes you? Which should describe you according to Romans 13?

  • How does loving others fulfill God’s law? How does it fulfill the command to love God?

  • Are there any people you withhold love from? If so, who and why? What needs to change?
