Back to the Future: [Un]expected return- Lukewarm Faith

Revelation 3:15-16 | “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”

  • How would you describe a hot, cold, and lukewarm faith?

    • Younger kids:

      • What is something that is really good cold?

      • What is something that is really good hot?

      • Can you think of something that is good cold or hot, but not when it is lukewarm/room temperature?

      • What does a hot or cold faith in Jesus look like?

  • Why doesn’t God want ‘lukewarm’ followers?

  • Think about your own relationship with God. Would you describe it as hot (growing, passionate, on fire), cold (neglected, non-existent), or lukewarm (indifferent, convenient, backburner)? Why?

    • In light of this passage, what does God think about your faith?

    • What type of faith (hot, cold, or lukewarm) is accepted into Heaven?

    • What, if anything, do you need to change?
