ALLEGIANCE - even when it harms your reputation

2 Samuel 6:21-22a | David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!

Galatians 1:10 | Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

  • David is made fun of when he dances in celebration before the Lord. What are some things you do as a Christ follower that people don’t understand?

  • When you are different than others because of your faith, do you get embarrassed? Why or why not?

  • David is willing to look foolish and to be humiliated because of his faith - he allegiance does not waver. Is this true about you too? Why or why not?

  • When you hide your faith to ‘fit in’ or to win the approval of people, where is your allegiance?

  • Why can’t you be Christ’s servant if you’re trying to win the approval of people?

  • Do you care more about God’s approval or the approval of your parents? Friends? Co-workers? (etc.) How does this show in your actions?
