Shoes of peace: Weak, plain, and simple- resting in God’s power

1st Corinthians 2:1-5 | When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.

  • How did Paul feel when sharing the Good News with the Corinthians the first time?

  • How do you relate to these feelings? Have you ever shared the Gospel with someone? If not, why? If so, how did you feel? What happened?

  • Whose power did Paul rely on? How can you do the same? [Remember, we are given this same instruction for all of the armor- Ephesians 6:10]

  • What was Paul’s simple message?

  • What would you say to present the Good News in its simplest form?
