Jesus loved God by putting God first: Love God with all
Matthew 22:37-40 | Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
If we truly love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, we will keep Him first in our lives. Why is this?
What is the difference between your heart, soul, and mind? Why are we instructed to love God with all three of these things?
What are some other things that you love with your emotions, your goals/desires, and your thoughts? In other words, to what do you give your affections, your time, your talents, and your treasures?
Thinking through these things, people, or goals, how does your investment in them compare to your investment in your relationship with God? Which are you showing love to least? Most?
Have you been loving God with less than your “all?” If so, what needs to change?
