The battle is the Lord’s: Times of trouble

Psalm 34:17, 19-22 | The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

  • God’s people aren’t exempt from times of trouble (these struggles can be part of the spiritual battle we face!). Why is this?

  • We read part of Psalm 34 yesterday. What additional promises are made in this section of Psalm 34 for those who call on the Lord in times of trouble?

  • What times of trouble have you faced in the past?

  • Where did you look for help when these troubles came? What was the result? How would things have been different if you called on the Lord for help or if you turned to Him sooner?
