Judges: The temptation to turn away

James 1:14-15 | Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

1st John 2:16 | For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 

  • What is temptation? What role does it play in the life of a follower of God?

  • What sin tempts or appeals to you? Why?

  • When you are tempted, do you usually give into that temptation by sinning or do you usually do what is right?

  • How can you shut temptation down rather than allowing it to “grow” into sin and death?
