Promise Keeper: Jacob- Undeserved Promises: Living like promise holders

While God’s promises don’t depend on us deserving them, we should still strive to live holy because we are receivers of the God’s promises–

2nd Cor. 7:1 | Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.

  • How should we live because we are receivers of God’s promises (forgiveness/salvation)?

  • What can defile our bodies or spirits? (Kids - defile means spoil).

    • Which, if any, of these things are present in your life?

      • How can these things be cleansed from your life?

  • God asks us to ‘work toward’ holiness (living righteously - without sin).

    • What does this mean?

    • Why are we told to ‘work toward’ this, rather than to just do it?

    • Are you obeying this instruction? In what ways or why not? What needs to change?

  • When we live lives that aim for holiness, what does it show to others?
