The Wheat & the Tares: Going through the motions (heartless)

Isaiah 29:13 | And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.

  • What does a heart that is close to God look like?

    • What kinds of things does that person do? Say? Think about?

    • What kinds of things does that person not do? Not say? No think about?

  • How does this compare to someone whose lips say they follow God, but their heart does not?

    • What do they do? Say? Think about?

    • What do they not do? Not say? Not think about?

  • Isaiah 29 talks about heartless worship that is learned by rote— it is just memorized or repeated
