GOSPEL ESSENTIALS: Changes how you live

James 2:14-17 | What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

Colossians 3:10 | Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

  • How does following God change who we are? What we do? How we treat others?

  • If a person says they believe in Jesus, but they never change to become more like Him, do they actually have saving faith? Why or why not?

  • Look at your own life. How have you changed since becoming a follower of Jesus? In what areas do you still need to grow?

  • Choose one of the ways you mentioned and set some goals to help you change and grow. Most importantly, spend some time today asking God to help you become more like Him in that area.
