The Pharisee & Tax Collector: God judges our hearts
1st Samuel 16:7 | But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
How might someone try to outwardly gain God’s approval?
What does God actually use to judge a person?
Think about your own heart.
What does God see there?
What feelings, thoughts, dreams, fears, etc. are in you?
What does your heart show devotion to?
Do you think God would reject you like Eliab, or accept you like David, based on your heart?
What does a pure and humble heart look like?
How will you guard against pride so you can remain (or become) humble of heart?
