Samson: Tackling Temptation

1st Peter 2:11-12 | Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

  • What does Peter mean when he calls us temporary residents and foreigners of this world?

  • “Keeping away” from the things that tempt you is one of the best ways to war against temptation. Think back to the things that tempt you. How can you avoid putting yourself in the places, around the people, or in the situations that tempt you?

  • When you aren’t able to stay away, it's still important to ‘live properly’ and to avoid sin. Why?

  • What kind of example are you setting for people around you when it comes to avoiding or not avoiding sin? Are you pushing others closer to or farther from God? In what ways?
