The mind of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:17 | Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

  • Are you a follower of Jesus? Are you in Christ and a new creation?

Colossians 3:10 | And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…

Galatians 2:20 | I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

If you are a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away and you are being transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus. What does that mean? What does that look like? Let’s see what the Bible says

Ephesians 5:1-2 | Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 4:23-32 |  …and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

-Put away falsehood and speak truth

-Do not sin when you are angry

-Don’t steal

-Be careful with your words

-Be kind to one another

-Forgive one another

  • Which of these have you struggled with this week?

  • If needed, confess to the Lord any sin in your heart - times you have lied, sinned in anger, hurt others with your words, failed to be kind, or not offered forgiveness.

  • Pray for opportunities to show kindness to others, to be tenderhearted and offer forgiveness so that others can see the transformative work of the gospel in your life.
