FAITH - Trust God when you’re afraid

Psalm 56:3-4 | But when I am afraid. I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?

  • What are you afraid of?

  • Is there anything too big or too difficult for God? What about the things you’re afraid of? What can God do about them?

  • When the Psalm writer is afraid, he chooses to trust God. Then what does he do? How can this help you be less afraid?

Psalm 112:1, 7-8 | Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands. They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.

  • When you face something hard or scary, Psalm promises you can trust the Lord to care for you. Do you believe this? Why or why not?

  • How does God take care of His followers when they face difficult things?

  • Why does God sometimes let his followers face hard things instead of taking those hard things away?

Isaiah 26:3-4 | You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

  • When we are afraid or anxious, we are supposed to keep our thoughts on what?

  • Do you struggle with anxious or fearful thoughts? When or about what?

  • How can you fix your mind on God during those times? (Make a plan!)
