The battle is the Lord’s: The Lord rescues

  • In 2nd Chronicles 20, we saw that Jehoshaphat’s battle belonged to the Lord. Check out the context of 1st Samuel 17 and then answer the questions below -

1st Samuel 17:47 | And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!”

  • Who was facing a battle in this passage? Who was their enemy?

  • How did God provide victory?

  • How do we see David standing firm in the battle when others around him fell away because of fear?

  • When we stand firm in the Lord’s strength (Ephesians 6:10) instead of our own, what is shown to others (as proclaimed by David in 1st Samuel 17:47)?
