Jesus loved God by obeying Him: Obedience is not a burden

1st John 5:3 | Loving God means keeping his commandments [obeying], and his commandments are not burdensome.

  • Earlier this week, we read 1st John 5:3 to learn that people who love God also do what?

  • 1st John 5:3 tells us that keeping God’s commands isn’t burdensome for people who love Him. What does this mean?

  • Do you see obedience, or living the way the Bible teaches, as a burden [a heavy load/task, something difficult to do/accept]? Why or why not?

    • What does this show you about your love for God?

    • If we are looking at obedience as a burden, how can focusing on our love for God help?

      • How can a person start to love God more?
