Who is like you, O mighty Lord?
In the midst of all the noise, the things that clamor for our attention and call to us every day, all day we easily lose sight of the Lord. The mundane drowns out His glory and distracts us incessantly from His Presence.
I was reading this morning in Psalm 89, “O Lord God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty Lord?” I've read that verse many times, but today, instead of rushing past it, I paused and pondered those words. There is no one like our God.
Let that sink in: no one. He is in a realm all by Himself. There is none that is His equal, none that rivals His majesty or His glory.
We serve a God who is is slow to anger, gracious, compassionate and abounding in lovingkindness. He saved us from darkness and the shadow of death by breaking the bonds of our captivity through His death on the cross. He guards us with perfect faithfulness and runs swiftly to the rescue of His people. He forgives time and again and is patient with our many failings. He is mighty in power, yet stoops down to know each one of us intimately. He gives His strength to the weary and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He sets the needy securely on high away from affliction and distress. He reigns in majesty and is worthy of all our praise.
As we think on these things we ought to exclaim in awe and wonder: Who is like you, O mighty Lord? These truths should evoke in us a heart of worship toward the Lord. David wrote in Psalm 95, "come let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand."
Be reminded today who your God is. Take an unhurried moment and pause to worship Him for His goodness to you.
See you soon!
